Your employer is legally required to protect your health and safety at work and make sure that you have a safe environment to work in. This includes carrying out an assessment of any risks and taking steps to address them, providing you with the right equipment to do your job safely and ensuring that you are properly trained to do it.

If you are concerned that your employer is not protecting your health and safety at work then you are entitled to raise your concerns with them and usually you would have protection as a whistle blower, which means that they cannot retaliate or treat you badly for raising the concerns. If they do, then you would have potential claims against them that could be pursued in an Employment Tribunal.

If you are worried that your employer is making you work in a way that is unsafe then we can provide specialist advice on your rights and the action that could be taken to improve the situation. Equally, if you work in a way that breaches your employer’s health and safety policies and procedures then they could take disciplinary action against you.
