Apprenticeship Scheme

Applications for our Apprenticeship Scheme starting in September 2023 are now closed. For further information please contact hrdept@nockolds.co.uk.

Our Apprenticeship Scheme is broken down into two areas: Legal Secretarial and Business Support. They are a two-year scheme where you will be provided with on-the-job training and a relevant qualification. This year, we also have an opportunity for a Trusts and Tax Apprentice.

Why choose a career with us?

We offer our apprentices responsibility and a tailored apprenticeship to ensure you are well prepared and equipped for the next step in your career.

Making the choice to join our team will give you the opportunity to gain hands on experience and a formal qualification whilst working alongside experienced professionals.

As an apprentice you will work across a number of different parts of our business and we encourage and invite ideas on new ways of working so, as a business, we can constantly improve.

The support network you build internally with colleagues is critical to how you learn and develop, and we encourage you to build and maintain these relationships throughout a career with us, working together as one team.

Training and Prospects

We consider our apprentices to be fundamental to the future progress of the firm. Initiative is expected and rewarded, and subject to ability, apprentices will be entrusted with responsibility.

Although we make no formal commitment at the outset, we encourage proven apprentices to remain with us after training if there is a suitable vacant position. We regard our apprentices as the main source of our future staff as we actively encourage the growth and development of everyone.

Who should apply?

Interviews will be held in July for a start date in the first week of September.

We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of three A-Levels at C grade or above (or equivalent qualification). You must have excellent communication and IT skills and a willingness to take on a challenge and develop your career.

At Nockolds we’re incredibly proud of our culture. We’re passionate about ensuring that Nockolds is an inclusive employer for everyone, regardless of their background or start in life – allowing people to progress and be their very best.

You will initially receive a call from us with a verbal offer which will give you the ‘headline’ details about the offer.

This will then be followed up by a formal written offer and contract. Offers are usually held open for a specified period of time from the date they are made. If you accept the offer in writing, we will then be in regular contact with you while we take up references and agree start dates and you will receive further information relating to your employment and induction.

In some cases, you may also be invited along to a team social event if there is one planned before you join.
You will have an informal appraisal at the end of each seat and a formal one on an annual basis (usually between July and August). The informal appraisals will feed into the annual appraisal. We will review performance against agreed objectives over the year, as well as setting objectives and development targets for the year ahead.
