London and Essex are amongst other areas in England moving to the Covid Tier 2 high-alert restrictions on Saturday, 17 October.

Tier 2 measures include a ban on households mixing indoors. The rule of 6 continues to apply to mixing in private gardens and outside spaces with social distancing measures in place.

Pubs and restaurants remain open with the 10pm curfew, but with no mixing of households allowed inside.

Government guidance continues to be to work from home if you can and to avoid non-essential travel. Residents in Tier 2 may continue to travel to work, or to access education, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys made wherever possible and avoid public transport.
