VACTERL Syndrome – Breach of Duty by Defendant Hospital

E was born with VACTERL (also known as VATER) syndrome, a combination of physical abnormalities affecting multiple organs, including in E’s case a missing kidney.

He required a kidney transplant and aortic valve replacement at the age of 13 due to breach of duty by the defendant hospital, who failed to adequately monitor E’s blood pressure and kidney function and detect the onset of hypertension and renal failure.

Reports from a paediatric consultant as well as paediatric experts in the fields of cardiology, nephrology and urology support E’s case and it is anticipated that E will recover substantial damages.
