An Employment Tribunal has ruled today in the high profile case of barrister Allison Bailey against her Garden Court Chambers and Stonewall relating to discrimination arising from her gender-critical beliefs.

Following a six week hearing the Tribunal found that Ms Bailey was discriminated against and victimised after expressing her views that Stonewall advocates extremist trans views and objecting to her Chambers being associated with Stonewall as a result. She subsequently accused Stonewall of acting like a ‘criminal protection racket’.

Garden Court Chambers then tweeted that complaints Ms Bailly was transphobic would be investigated. The Employment Tribunal has held that this tweet was discriminatory and awarded Ms Bailly £22,000 in damages. Other claims against Garden Court Chambers and all claims against Stonewall were dismissed.
