The deadlock on the Employment Rights Bill has finally been broken and it has now been passed by Parliament. In the likely event we receive Royal Assent prior to Christmas, the Bill will become the Employment Rights Act 2025.
Alongside passing the Bill, the Government has committed to publishing an impact assessment on the impact of removing the unfair dismissal compensation cap before implementing the unfair dismissal sections of the new act. The changes to unfair dismissal are some of the most radical amendments proposed under the Bill and so the outcome of the impact assessment will be revealing of the broader implications.
We will update you as soon as we receive confirmation that the Bill has received Royal Assent. We will also be providing regular updates on what the new Act will mean for you and your organisations.
