How HR Consultants can Guide your Business on the Legislation Updates – Employment Rights Act 2025

By Helen Burrowes

Senior HR Consultant

The Employment Rights Act 2025 represents a significant overhaul in legislation relating to UK employment.

The updates are being phased in over the coming years, ranging from family friendly, entitlements to sick pay, redundancy liabilities, whistleblowing protection.  For more information on the timetable of implementation including the full range of changes, follow our tracker Employment Rights Bill Act Timeline | Nockolds

Our team of HR Consultants are actively engaging with their clients to guide on the imminent changes coming into force on 06 April 2026. The changes affecting current practices includes:

  • Family friendly – day one rights for paternity leave and unpaid parental leave
  • Statutory sick pay – SSP paid on the first day of absence, and the lower earnings limit removed
  • Sexual Harassment ‘qualifying disclosure’ protection under whistleblowing

As a result of these changes, staff handbooks and employment contracts will need updating to reflect the entitlements and protection.

If you have a staff handbook, individual employment policies, and employment contracts that need updating, then reach out to our team for a quote. As part of our service we will do an audit on the company documents to ensure compliance, and guide on how further changes identified in the Employment Rights Act 2025 may impact your practices over the coming year-this will help you to be ready to communicate the continued reforms being phased in through 2026 and beyond.
