Consumer Reform: One Year On from the DMCCA
In this Business Hub seminar, we review key consumer law reforms under the DMCCA one year on and consider further protections still to come.
We are delighted to invite you to the next seminar in our Nockolds Business Hub series. The seminar will be held on Tuesday 14 April from 12pm - 1pm, where George Burton will be discussing: 'Consumer Reform: One Year on from the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (“DMCCA”)'.
The main consumer protection provisions of the DMCCA came into force in April 2025. In this seminar, we will reflect on the impact of these reforms one year on from their implementation and explore the further protections expected to be introduced under the legislation in the coming months.
We will discuss some of the most significant changes to consumer protection law, including:
- Expanded enforcement powers for the Competition and Markets Authority to take action against non-compliant traders
- A stronger focus on identifying and tackling unfair commercial practices
- New banned practices, including prohibitions on fake reviews and drip pricing
- Greater recognition and clarification of consumer vulnerability
- New and upcoming protections relating to subscription contracts and payment schemes
Join us to understand what these developments mean in practice and how businesses can prepare for the evolving consumer protection landscape.
Lunch and refreshments will be available.
