Nockolds’ Employment Team has assisted a regional law firm in restructuring its support teams to help equip it for future growth.
The firm, with approximately 50 staff, sought our assistance following significant investment in it’s technology which resulted in changes to 20% of it’s support staff roles. The firm does not have it’s own employment law specialists inhouse and was seeking an independent firm to advise the Partners through this positive, but challenging, change.
Our team of specialist Employment Lawyers and HR Consultants met initially with the Partners to map out the planned changes and identify any areas of potential difficulty. We were able to act as a sounding board for the firm’s Partners to work through various scenarios and help the Partners find the path that led to the least number of redundancies.
Our team then took control of the process including meeting with all of the affected staff and undertaking full consultation with them, convincing most staff to adjust their roles to the new technology. As such we were able to ensure that most of those affected were able to remain employed and stay with the firm, saving the business significant sums in redundancy payouts and avoiding the need for the Partners to damage their relationships with the staff.
Nockolds Professional Services Team regularly advise professional services businesses such as law firms, accountancy practices and financial advisers on their staffing arrangements and from providing that impartial sounding board in the planning phase to conducting investigations and consultation meetings.
