Rachel Davis joined Nockolds in 2006 and is an experienced Employment Lawyer based in our Head Office in Bishop’s Stortford. She specialises in all areas of employment law, advising businesses and individuals on various work-related issues.
Rachel provides clear, straightforward and practical advice and deals swiftly and efficiently in an understanding and sympathetic way with the various difficult situations that arise in an employment relationship, including dismissals, disciplinary and grievance processes, discrimination issues, flexible working requests, long term sickness absence, redundancy, and restrictive covenants.
Rachel has a particular interest in women’s rights in the workplace, including pregnancy and maternity discrimination, sexual harassment, menopause, equal pay and family leave rights.
Rachel is experienced in preparing and advising on all employment related documentation for businesses, including contracts of employment, staff handbooks, policies and settlement agreements. Rachel also advises on and negotiates settlement agreements on behalf of employees.
Rachel regularly presents at seminars and webinars on a variety of employment related issues and is often instructed to carry out specialist employment law training for businesses on topics including unfair dismissal, discrimination, sexual harassment and general line manager training.
Rachel has significant experience in assisting employees and businesses at all stages of Employment Tribunal claims from drafting the initial claim or response, preparing witness statements and negotiating settlement. She also has a high degree of success in resolving disputes without recourse to the Employment Tribunal. Examples of her work include the following:
- Successfully representing a Claimant employee in an Employment Tribunal Claim related to sexual orientation discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
- Successfully representing a Respondent employer and securing strike out of claims in the Employment Tribunal for unfair dismissal and whistleblowing brought by a former employee.
- Successfully representing a Respondent employer in defending an Employment Claim brought by a former employee for constructive dismissal and discrimination on the grounds of sex, race and disability.
- Acting for a senior employee in securing a settlement agreement following an application for interim injunctive relief in respect of an allegation of misuse of confidential information.
Rachel is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and a qualified Mental Health First Aider.
She is an active member in Nockolds’ Charity Committee, and during her time here she has walked from Nockolds’ Bishop’s Stortford office to Nockolds’ London office (34-miles) to raise money for Herts Young Homeless, Thirst Café and Macmillan Cancer Support, she has completed the Three Peaks, a free-fall abseil down the ArcellorMittal Orbit for Headway Brain Injury Association, and the Norfolk Coastal Walk (45-miles) in aid of Steph’s Wishes.
