This session will include a summary of equalities and discrimination law in the workplace, including a review of the nine protected characteristics and the prohibited conduct. There will be a discussion of the employer's liabilities to staff and the practical and legal implications of failure to comply.
We will also discuss the current "hot topic" of equal pay and the government's current proposals to reduce the gender pay gap, including equal pay audits. The course will also look at recent important cases and discuss typical scenarios often encountered by employers.
This session is suitable for those new to this area of law, as well as a good refresher and update for those with experience of dealing with these issues.
