Summer Vacation Scheme

Applications for our Summer Vacation Scheme are now open. To apply for a place, please click here.

Our Summer Vacation Scheme allows you to get a taste of Nockolds and the legal profession before applying for a training contract.

It’s an opportunity for you to ‘interview’ us as much as it is for us to assess whether you would be a strong candidate for one of our sought-after trainee positions in the future. It is one of the best possible ways to enjoy and experience what it would be like to work here.

If your application for a placement is successful, you will enjoy one week’s work experience during July. You’ll spend time in two different departments so you can see the work of a variety of solicitors in different practice areas.

This scheme allows you to get a taster of the four ‘seats’ of a training contract, where you’ll work alongside Partners, fee earners and trainees. You’re likely to spend time in Commercial Property, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Residential Property and Wills and Probate.

During the placement, you’ll experience real work with solicitors in different areas. This may mean undertaking legal research, preparing or checking a draft document, attending court and client meetings or serving proceedings. Each of your supervisors will provide regular and constructive feedback on your performance.

We will also pay your travel expenses, and you’ll have the opportunity to have lunch with our current trainees who will be able to tell you all about life as a trainee at Nockolds.

The deadline for our Summer Vacation Scheme is the preceding 31 March. We’re looking for vacation placement applications who are:

  • A minimum of two years completed of your undergraduate degree
  • Keen and interested in applying to Nockolds for a training contract
  • Personable and ambitiously natured
  • Well-rounded with interests both related and unrelated to the law
  • Commercially aware; and
  • Have a sense of humour!
At Nockolds we’re incredibly proud of our culture. We’re passionate about ensuring that Nockolds is an inclusive employer for everyone, regardless of their background or start in life – allowing people to progress and be their very best.
