Official Translation - Grant of Probate

Our client needed the official translation into Spanish of the Grant of Probate with Will and the Deed of Variation. The client was the beneficiary of the estate in Spain. The deceased had granted an English Will to dispose of her assets worldwide.

The Grant of Probate is a document issued by the English High Court of Justice after the English Will has been validated. A Deed of Variation is a document which modifies the Will after the testator has passed away. To be legally valid, the Deed of Variation has to be signed by the parties involved within two years from the testator’s death.
There are no documents like the Grant of Probate and Deed of Variation in Spain and therefore understanding their purposes may prove tricky. The Spanish Authorities accepted the official translations of the Grant and the Deed and the client became the owner of the assets in Spain.
