Joanna qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and joined Nockolds as a Senior Associate in March 2016 having previously worked and trained at another firm in Essex. Joanna read law at the University of Leicester and completed her Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University, attaining a distinction.
Joanna specialises in all types of employment matters from recruitment through to dismissal and everything that arises in between acting for both employers and employees. She is skilled in drafting bespoke documentation for a wide range of businesses including contracts of employment, handbooks and company policies and reviewing and advising on such documents for employees at all levels.
Joanna has also designed and delivered HR training on a range of topics including the correct way to conduct disciplinary and grievance procedures to avoid Employment Tribunal claims and best practice in recruitment to reduce the risk of discrimination, amongst others.
Joanna also deals with TUPE matters related to the sale and purchase of businesses and the associated issues that may occur as a result of inheriting employees. She can also assist with all stages of Employment Tribunal claims from drafting the initial claim or defence to preparing witness statements and assessing the potential value of a claim.
Joanna has a particular interest in discrimination issues having successfully assisted clients with claims relating to pregnancy/maternity discrimination as well as disability discrimination. She is regularly instructed to advise and negotiate Settlement Agreements (formerly known as Compromise Agreements) as well as preparing such documents for employers.
Joanna is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and is known for her approachable nature and ability to provide cost effective commercial advice.
