Alex joined Nockolds in 2011 and is a Principal Associate in our Commercial and Property Litigation Team. Before joining the firm Alex studied law at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge before training and working in the City. Alex deals with commercial disputes and property litigation.
In terms of commercial litigation, Alex deals with warranty and misrepresentation claims following the sale of companies, disputes within partnerships and has dealt with a number of substantial product liability claims involving damage to property belonging to third parties. He has also dealt with claims under the Commercial Agents Regulations, claims involving penalty provisions in commercial hire agreements and applications for injunctive relief. More recently Alex has gained experience in connection with a number of regulatory investigations.
Alex undertakes all types of contentious property work. In terms of commercial property, has particular experience of business lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, dilapidations claims, claims for breach of covenant (assignment/underletting without permission, breach of user covenant), rent review and real property disputes relating to rights of way, boundaries and adverse possession. Residential property disputes also form part of his caseload and has he experience of forfeiture proceedings, advising in relation to the Right to Manage legislation and contentious enfranchisement work. Alex has undertaken work in the County and High courts for a variety of clients from private individuals to UK-wide developers.
Alex was quoted in the Legal 500 (2015 edition) as going ‘to great lengths to serve the best interests of the client’.
Alex is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the London Solicitors’ Litigation Association. Alex is also an accredited mediator (London School of Mediation).
