Women in Business - 11th May 2017

May 15, 2017
On Thursday 11th May I had the pleasure of presenting Nockolds’ Women in Business networking lunch at Pledgdon Barn in Henham, Essex - a lovely setting for an afternoon cream tea courtesy of the English Cream Tea Company.

The English Cream Tea Company is a family business run by a dynamic couple, Roger and Jane Malyon, which has taken indulgence to a new level.

Our speaker for this lunch was Jane, who gave an engaging and amusing talk that was both inspiring and memorable to an avid audience. I particularly enjoyed the part when Jane put on her martial arts black belt and likened a woman in business to that of going into battle which gave us a visual metaphor.

Success can be measured a huge number of ways, and we can see this in the number of insights into the business that Jane gave us; from coming up with the idea of The English Cream Tea Company to being in the Guinness World Book of Records, to giving her own TED talk and being interviewed in the media, or selling their products on QVC.

In the end, I think it comes down to the wonderful energy that radiates from Jane, Roger and their staff. So much so that on Sunday 14th May I attended as a guest at their Afternoon Tea Dance, sampling their hospitality whilst combining the popular tradition of afternoon tea, with an entertaining combination of ballroom dancing and live singing, which all the family can enjoy.

It is such a privilege to be able to showcase women who are making a splash in business. For more information on The English Cream Tea Company please visit their website.

We hope to see you all at the next lunch at Down Hall, which will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Women in Business. For more details please click here.
