Battered Bake Off Drama

Sep 15, 2016
If you are not a fan of GBBO (or, if you have no idea what those letters mean together), then this article may not be for you. It recently hit the news that the ever loved Great British Bake Off, and the star presenters of it, Mel and Sue are no longer going to be presenting the show when it moves to Channel 4. It has been reported that, in making their bids for the show to stay on BBC, the BBC were at least £10milllion under the price paid by Channel 4, which is quite significant.

When contracts come up for renewal its always important to keep on your toes. This is a classic, and in my view, unfortunate example, where perhaps the producers and the BBC suffered from a severe lack of communication and a breakdown in their commercial relationship. Sometimes, these things happen but in other occasions they could be prevented with intervention of the right legal support in order to help smooth over the negotiations of contracts or help manage the commercial relationships. Solicitors do not have to be intimidating and instead should be seen as a complementary addition to your business as quite often we can help you assess risks that had not been considered previously.

If you would like some assistance with your contracts, whether it be a review or otherwise, do get in touch today.
