Top 10 Speed Cameras in the UK

Oct 22, 2015
The Mirror newspaper has recently reported the location of the country’s top 10 most prolific speed cameras. According to the report, top of the table was the Limehouse Link tunnel in East London. The newspaper’s research reveals that in 2014-15 it caught a staggering 17,620 motorists, averaging 48 people per day. Amongst the top 10 were the M1 north and south junctions 15 to 18, in Northamptonshire which caught 20 people speeding each day from January to September this year. In tenth place was Tower Bridge South, City of London, which successfully caught 14 speeding drivers each day in 2014.

Figures from the Ministry of Justice indicate that prosecutions for motoring offences increased last year by 4.5%, from 566,000 in 2013 to 591,000 in 2014. Annual Criminal Justice statistics for 2014 show that amongst the figures, the largest increase was for speeding offences which grew to 159,000, making up 26% of all motoring cases in Court appearances last year.
