The Mirror has reported that a driver who was on the phone whilst driving his lorry has been sent to prison and disqualified from driving for five years.
The man, driving in South Oxfordshire failed to brake in time and crashed into a car in front and killed a paramedic and seriously injured his colleague. They were responding to an emergency at a local school at the time.
The judge found that the man on the phone who was travelling at 55mph had put the brakes on half a second before the impact.
The man claimed he was not on the phone at the time of the crash but phone records proved otherwise
