With our range of language skills, cultural knowledge and legal expertise, Nockolds International provides clients with a unique service. The team has native Spanish speakers who are fluent in English, French, Italian and Croatian speakers and a working knowledge of Portuguese. Our specialism is Spanish legal matters, but we can communicate effectively with other professionals and officials in other parts of Europe. Planning Worries for Spanish Property Owners

Recent newspaper reports about retired Britons living in Spain whose houses have been demolished because of irregularities by the Spanish authorities have caused alarm bells to ring for many ex-pats.

The solution is not an easy one and will vary according to circumstances: when the building was not allowed in the first place, when the building was not allowed but a licence to build has been granted, and the particular case of buildings built very near the coast.

With increased travel, both for business and leisure, unfortunately accidents involving international citizens in the UK, or UK citizens abroad are becoming more frequent.

With experience in handling personal injury claims, and our international language skills and knowledge, Nockolds can ensure your claim is dealt with professionally and conveniently.

Each country is different and we can advise on the particular issues arising from your accident. It may be that you can pursue a claim here in the UK if the holiday falls within the Package Travel Regulations. If you have to bring a claim abroad, Nockolds utilise their knowledge of foreign jurisdictions, language skills and network of reputable and qualified local agents to progress your claim as smoothly and quickly as possible.

You may have cover with your travel insurance for legal costs, or alternatively we will advise you on the options available to you, and help you to select the most suitable way of proceeding which may include No Win No Fee Agreements, insurance cover or other options permitted outside the UK.

Within our International team, our language skills enable us to liaise with local officials and other parties abroad.

Any official document to be used in a foreign country has to be translated by a translator approved in that country. Nockolds offer the services of Dalila Segador, an Official Translator appointed by the Spanish Foreign Office, who can provide official translations in English and Spanish. Dalila is also a qualified and approved Portuguese translator and therefore offers certified legal translation in English and Portuguese.

Nockolds also assist and advise on the formalities and legal requirements of owning property in Spain.

These include:

• NIE number (identity number)
• Powers of Attorney
• Notarisation of Document

Nicholas Belcher is also available to provide notarial services, as one of only a limited number of Notary Publics in the area.
