Rachel Davis is an Employment Lawyer based in our Bishop’s Stortford office. She specialises in all areas of employment law, advising businesses and individuals on all types of work-related issues.

Rachel provides clear and practical advice and deals swiftly and efficiently in an understanding and sympathetic way with the various difficult situations that arise in an employment relationship, including disciplinary and grievance processes, discrimination issues,  flexible working requests and long term sickness absence.  She also advises on redundancy, terms and conditions of employment and restrictive covenants.

Rachel has a particular interest in women’s rights in the workplace, including pregnancy and maternity discrimination, sexual harassment, menopause and family leave rights.

Rachel is experienced in preparing and advising on all employment related documentation for businesses, including contracts of employment, staff handbooks, policies and settlement agreements. Rachel also advises on and negotiates settlement agreements on behalf of employees.

Rachel has significant experience in assisting employees and businesses at all stages of Employment Tribunal claims from drafting the initial claim or defence, drafting witnesses statements and negotiating settlement. She also has a high degree of success in resolving disputes without recourse to the Employment Tribunal. Examples of her work include the following:

  • She successfully represented a Claimant employee in an Employment Tribunal Claim related to sexual orientation discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
  • She successfully represented a Respondent employer and secured strike out of claims in the Employment Tribunal for unfair dismissal and whistleblowing brought by a former employee.
  • She acted for an employee in securing a settlement agreement following an application for interim injunctive relief in respect of an allegation of misuse of confidential information.

Rachel joined Nockolds in 2006 and is a Principal Associate in our Employment Team. Rachel is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEX).

Rachel is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and a qualified Mental Health First Aider and regularly advises on mental health in the workplace. Rachel also regularly presents at seminars and webinars on a variety of employment-related issues.

Rachel is an active member in Nockolds’ Charity Committee, and in 2016 was part of a group of staff members who walked from Nockolds’ Bishop’s Stortford office to Nockolds’ London office (34-miles) to raise money for Herts Young Homless, Thirst Café and Macmillan Cancer Support. She has previously completed the Three Peaks, London Bridge Walk and a free-fall abseil down the ArcellorMittal Orbit. In 2019 she took part in Nockolds’ Coastal Walk (45-miles) in aid of Steph’s Wishes.
