Malcolm Mills 1946-2011
The partners and staff at Nockolds are very sorry to announce the death on 20th October of our friend and colleague Malcolm Mills.
Malcolm joined Nockolds in a part time capacity in 2008 after he left his full time position at the Public Trustee’s Office where he had been employed since leaving school.
He brought a wealth of experience to our Private Client team and was very well liked by his clients and colleagues. Malcolm was able to help clients to organise their affairs and manage changes in their circumstances by giving sound and reassuring advice which he always delivered in a friendly and calm manner.
We quickly grew accustomed to Malcolm’s kind and understated presence, and he will be sadly missed not just for his professional expertise but also for his patience and friendship.
Malcolm leaves a sister Faith who has worked as a property lawyer at Nockolds for many years and who will be known to many of our clients.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Faith.
Donations in Malcolm’s memory can be made to Sightsavers International c/o Daniel Robinson and Sons Robinson House Wych Elm Harlow Essex CM20 1QP

Camberley Caper for CLIC Sargent - Following on from the success and enjoyment of the Isabel Hospice Ride earlier this year, Nockolds LLP Solicitors and Price Bailey have decided yet again to forego a relaxing Sunday for an extreme day of biking, running and kayaking!
The Camberley Caper, Trail Plus event, supported CLIC Sargent a charity specialising in the provision of support for children and young people with cancer and their families. Not only do they provide clinical care but the essential care and support for families as well as specialist holidays, play specialists and days out.
Sarah Miles, Commercial Solicitor at Nockolds explained,
"Anyone with children knows how worrying it can be when they are knocked out with a bad cold, but to imagine how you must feel if your children suffer with cancer is beyond comprehension. It is all too easy to carry on in your own life and forget about the problems that so many families go through."
Tony Pennison, Director at Price Bailey Chartered Accountants said after the event:
“It feels amazing to have completed such a gruelling challenge! We all did so well and it feels like a double win in terms of your own personal achievement and supporting a charity.”
The teams have been busy fundraising over the last few weeks but are still open to kind donations, to support the team please contact marketing@nockolds.co.uk or sponsor them at https://www.justgiving.com/Nockolds-Solicitors0

Who’s looking after your Will?
Not content with cold calling and pressurising members of the public to make Wills on spurious and often ill-informed grounds, unqualified and unregulated Will writers are again in the news this week.
Minster Legal Services went out of business when the owner died. We heard about it when 1000 Will files were later found dumped on the pavement outside its premises in Doncaster.
That wasn’t all. It was later reported in an article in the Law Society’s gazette that MLS had a national network of consultants targeting local charity groups, particularly the elderly and clients had paid thousands of pounds for wills and trusts that they had never received!
The moral of the story? If you make a Will, make sure you do it properly ask some key questions.
Is your Solicitor a member of STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners?
Ask how they will store your Will and where?
Will they charge for that service? Paying a small retainer for secure storage is something that may pay dividends in the long run, but only if you get the comfort of knowing your Will is in a proper fire proof vault (like ours)
For more information on wills please contact Peter King on pjk@nockolds.co.uk or our will team on wills@nockolds.co.uk
