    Cohabitation - a cautionary tale

Unlike married couples, cohabiting couples who buy property together, raise families, and then fall out, cannot rely on the discretion of a Court as can divorcing couples.
The case of Kernott –v- Jones exemplifies this nicely. It is also a cautionary tale for the many cohabiting couples who buy property together, raise a family and then fall out with each other, but do not sort out their legal interests. Lynn Cowley, Partner at Nockolds LLP explains the impact of this case on couples living together.
