Intellectual Property Disputes

“Intellectual property” (or “IP”) is the term used to refer to assets which are created through independent thought and creative intellectual effort. They generally fall into the following categories:

  • Trademarks (both registered and unregistered)
  • Patents, which protects inventions.
  • Designs (registered and unregistered)
  • Copyright

In addition to the above confidential information is also treated in a similar way.

It is crucial for any business, new or well established, to consider what intellectual property they may have and to decide what protections and seek specialist advice regarding them. When things go wrong, however, and your intellectual property rights are infringed upon, our team of contentious dispute resolution solicitors are here to help.  Such disputes often need swift and decisive action in order to protect your interests and mitigate the consequences of further infringement.

How can we help you?

We can advise you in respect of an ongoing or prospective intellectual property dispute / infringement and work with you to devise a strategy for dealing with the issue which you are happy with and which is as commercially sensitive as possible.  Where proceedings are necessary we shall advise you and support you through that process with a view to obtaining all necessary compensation or, alternative, an order (known as an injunction) which prohibits further infringement.  We work closely with members of our Company and Commercial Team to advise you in respect of intellectual property licences and as well as our employment team regarding disputes over intellectual property ownership.

If you are concerned about intellectual property issues affecting you, please contact our team on 0345 646 0406 or fill in our online enquiry form and a member of our team will be in touch.
