Profile Overview

Pete Dodd is a Partner within the Family Team and has recently been recognised as a "Leader in the Field" in the UK 2012 edition of Chambers UK, being credited by the publication and praised by his clients for having 'clear communication skills' and 'an ability to explain the law'.

Pete graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Psychology and completed his Law Society Finals at the College of Law in Guildford.

With over 17 years' experience in Legal Practice, Pete joined Nockolds in 2004 as a Partner within the Family Team.

He is a trained Collaborative Lawyer and was instrumental in setting up the Hertfordshire Family Law Collaborative Team as well as the Hertfordshire Resolution Group. He chairs both groups and reports back to Resolution at National level on a regular basis. Pete is a member of the Law Society's Family Panel and an advanced member of Resolution's panel (cohabitation and complex financial and property matters). Pete is therefore well informed on all current legislation relating to family issues.

He specialises in high net worth family cases and has expertise in:

  • Divorce and Finances (involving married couples and cohabiting couples)
  • Children and Contact Issues
  • Inheritance Act Disputes
  • International issues relating to children and finances

Pete Dodd heads up the Motoring and Road Traffic Team and has recently been recognised as a "Leader in the Field" in Criminal Law for his work in Road Traffic in the UK 2012 edition of Chambers UK. He is recognised as being 'very efficient' and is credited for "possessing clear communications skills when explaining the law". Pete is ideally placed to head this team having had extensive experience as a Magistrates Clerk for a number of years. This knowledge combined with a number of years practising as a criminal defence advocate has provided him with an in-depth understanding of how the Court process works and the likely actions and decision making processes used by Magistrates. This knowledge and understanding allows Pete to focus on the best arguments to sway Magistrate's in his client's favour. Pete also has experience in advising as to Crown Court appeals.

Pete is a great fan of rugby, having been educated at the Stonyhurst College which holds a strong sports tradition. He also is a car enthusiast, having worked for car rental firms part time whilst studying at University; and a Francophile visiting the Loire region with his family when he can.

Pete has recently contributed to Dave Monk's programmes on BBC Essex on the issues surrounding the taking penalty points on behalf of another driver, the "1 Year Itch" and Media Portrayal of Divorce as well as contributing to Resolution's "The Review".

Pete regularly speaks at networking breakfasts, colleges and companies regarding motoring law and road traffic offences.
